Fort McMurray – Call for Artists
The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is looking for a Canadian artist/artist team to design and install a mural at the Bob Lamb Bandstand in Borealis Park, Fort McMurray.
Deadline: 10 Aug 2016
The purpose of the Graffiti Abatement Mural Project is to provide a solution to graffiti while bringing public art into the community. This mural will be the sixth installation within Fort McMurray. In addition to installing the mural the artist/artist team will be expected to mentor a local emerging artist to help build artistic capacity within the region. The mural will cover the entire interior of the bandstand (including the underside of the roof) and the exterior walls and must appeal to a wide, culturally diverse audience while being a suitable backdrop for a range of cultural performances. The mural installation should begin early September.
This project pays $15,800.00.
RMWB is one of Canada’s youngest and most dynamic communities and is one of the largest municipalities in North America. Fort McMurray is the urban service center for the area. Smaller communities within the region include Anzac, Conklin, Draper, Fort Chipewyan, Fort Fitzgerald, Fort Mackay, Gregoire Lake Estates, Janvier, and Saprae Creek.
