Outdoor Juried Art Exhibit (Sarasota, FL) – Call For Artists

Embracing Our Differences announces a call for artists for their international outdoor juried art exhibit celebrating diversity. Art is a powerful tool to evoke social change. Without uttering a single word, artists can enlighten, educate and affect change around the world. Since 2004, Embracing Our Differences has used the power of art and prose to promote diversity. The centerpiece of Embracing Our Differences is an outdoor juried art exhibit featuring 50 billboard size images (12.5 feet by 16 feet) created by  artists and writers. The display reflects the artists’ interpretations of the theme enriching lives through diversity. The exhibit is displayed annually at Bayfront Park in downtown Sarasota.

Students from 239 schools around the world submitted artwork or quotes to the juried exhibit and more than 70% of this year’s submissions were from students. The 2019 exhibit hosted 218,000 visitors to Bayfront Park, bringing total attendance, since 2004, to more than 2,920,000.

Social Equity

Embracing Our Differences’ annual outdoor exhibit is at the heart of a year-round program of activities designed to use art as a catalyst to create awareness and promote diversity. Crucial to our mission are the ongoing education initiatives. Presented in partnership with the regional school district and nationally recognized educators, these programs positively impact the lives of thousands of area teachers and students every year. These include workshops and retreats that provide diversity curricula for area educators, free bus transportation for students and teachers to visit cultural venues, and student docent programs in high schools.
