They are hoping for works that draw attention to causes both personal, local, and global or reflect on aspects of being human in today’s complicated world.
Cups With Conscience Artist Benefits
This exhibit is juried by Richard Notkin and Beth Lo. Jurors will be judging the overall style and quality of your work, not individual pieces. If accepted, you may ship up to five cups of your choosing in the same material and style as your submission(s).
Opportunities for lectures and workshops may be offered to artists to accompany the exhibition in addition to a virtual artist reception with jurors. $800 in awards will be distributed. In addition, a ceramic tile, donated by Richard Notkin, will be given to the top three awards and a slideshow of accepted works posted on Gallery One’s website.

Millennium Arts Salon is the premier arts organization in Washington, DC dedicated to promoting African and African American visual art. Together, they will present the Good Trouble exhibition as a public service. Art can inform and inspire needed social and political change.
Political analysts in Washington believe that if the Russians don’t interfere too much, turn-out may decide the winner of what may be the most consequential election of our time. It’s CCPArt’s civic duty, and yours, to encourage every registered voter to actually vote in this year’s election. Use your creativity and talent to help determine the future of the United States at this difficult time in its history. If you’ve seen the signage and political posters both parties produce, you’ll understand why we think, together, we can do better. Hopefully, we’ll all benefit as a result.
A jury of experts will select the winning entries. CCPArt will print the posters from the jpegs you submit. The posters will be exhibited in Washington and online.
About The Center for Contemporary Political Art
The Center for Contemporary Political Art is the only art space in the Nation’s Capital dedicated exclusively to presenting art addressing current political issues in real time. CCPArt’s first exhibition was a juried open call show, Defining the Art of Change in the Age of Trump. It launched in September 2018, in time for that year’s mid-term elections.
In an essay written for CCPArt’s first catalog, Dorothea Dietrich, a professor of art history at Princeton before becoming chair of the department of art history and design at Pratt, compared the Defining exhibit to the First International Dada Fair in 1920 in Berlin. CCPArt can think of no higher compliment or, unfortunately, a more apt comparison.

The New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA) announces a call for artists for Street Photography. Vivian Maier, an unknown, left behind a treasure of images she took while walking outside during time off. As did Cartier-Bresson, Frank, Meyerowitz, Arbus, Evans, and the list of accomplished street photographers goes on. Their work captured a special essence of life, not posed, not set up but there in the streets, yards, avenues, and porches we pass every day. Compelling images surround us as we walk or ride in the streets of our lives.

The challenge for this contest is to shoot street images that set them apart from snapshots. Opportunities abound. Take your camera or phone outside and capture the juxtaposition of a passerby and window decoration, special look, special split second moment of communication, or scene that conveys a message or feeling. The examples are too numerous and varied to list. All 2D photography is welcome.
The total prizes for Street Photography is $4000. There is a grand prize, three first prizes, three second prizes, three third prizes, 20 juror’s selections, and 20 honorable mentions. Each of the first 25 winners have an opportunity to exhibit in a New York City gallery, the Jadite Gallery in Hell’s Kitchen. The exhibit runs for two weeks. In addition, all 50 winners are posted in a gallery on the New York Center for Photographic Art website and are included in an exhibition catalog. A professional photographer is the juror.

BWAC is privileged to have a NY art expert as juror, Jenée-Daria Strand. With her expert guidance, BWAC looks forward to another spectacular show. Putting it together in a wonderful space will be a fellow artist and BWAC Curator, Kenneth Jackson, creating the look of the exhibition with his placement assignments.
Jenée-Daria Strand is the Curatorial Assistant for the Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum where she supports the research and organization of numerous exhibitions, including “Out of Place: A Feminist Look at the Collection” and the upcoming “Lorraine O’Grady: Both/And.” Jenée-Daria has led and supported projects examining Black subjectivity through historical precedents, including her first independent co-curation of “what once was” in August of 2019 (Gloria Gail Gallery, NYC), and the Alvin Ailey x “The Dinner Party” by Judy Chicago performance collaboration for Women’s History Month 2020 (Brooklyn Museum, NYC), featured in ELLE Magazine. She serves on the Dance/NYC Junior Committee, holds a BFA from Florida State University, and will begin an MA at New York University this Fall.

Where usually cruises, cars, or detergents find large places to shine, there will now be art. 40 billboards become exhibition surfaces.
This year, the Reclaim Kollektiv holds the second Reclaim Award in Cologne. For the debut in 2019, 551 artists from 29 countries applied to redesign 25 billboards in urban areas of Cologne. Since this went beyond any intended scope, there will be already 40 large-scale billboards to show art in 2020.
Reclaim grows. A plus of 15 surfaces means even more radiance for the artpieces, even more visibility for the artists. The stage is ready, Cologne as public museum. Perception in public space is the highest: large-scale billboards on bustling streets, busy train stations, and in urban, alternative neighbourhoods of Cologne.
The winners will exhibit their works in the form of 18/1 posters on billboards rented in a central location, for the duration of 10 days. Artists from all fields and all countries are welcome to participate in the competition.
About Reclaim Kollektiv
The Reclaim Kollektiv consists of three business partners and friends. Odo Hans is a freelance artist and initiator of the Reclaim Award. Together with Tobias Handorf and Caspar Wündrich, managers of the design studio neoactio in Cologne, they founded the Kollektiv in 2019.
Last years’ debut was a great success for the trio. 551 applicants liked the idea and shared the vision. This years’ Reclaim Award grew by 15 surfaces.

About Mills Pond Gallery
Smithtown Township Arts Council operates Mills Pond Gallery in an historic Greek Revival building built in 1838. Adaptation of Mills Pond House for public use has introduced modern mechanical systems to the structure without impairing its historic integrity. Gallery lighting and handicapped access have been designed to complement the original building. Notable among the ca. 1838 Grecian details are the gold-veined marble mantelpieces, ornamental plater “centres” applied to the ceilings, and front and rear stoops supported by wooden Doric columns.
Mills Pond house preserves the locality’s name, but departs from tradition in other respects. Its high-style Grecian design is unusual on Long Island. The hand of an accomplished architect is nearly unique at this early date. Pollard’s influence is seen in the use of imported materials: Albany boards, Carolina yellow pine, English glass, Connecticut stone, and Santo Domingan mahogany. The silvered hardware, decorative plaster, and carpeting were bought in New York City shops. William Wickham Mills died in 1865. His home descended in the family until its gift to the Town of Smithtown in 1976. Today, it is preserved for use as an arts-related facility.
